Berwick and District Volunteer Fire Department
What we do
Established in 1915, the Berwick & District Volunteer Fire Department now serves approximately 100 square miles of district, providing fire prevention and protection to various types of industry, fishing villages, processing plants and residential neighborhoods. Members respond on average to over 100 alarms per year.
The Berwick & District Volunteer Fire Department continually recruits for new members. The calling can be a fulfilling, exciting, and truly meaningful way to forge lifelong comrades and to contribute to the community at large. Applications are available at the main office in Berwick's Town Hall. Members of the BDVFD hold several fundraising events throughout the year. Contact your favorite firefighter for a schedule of events.

Regional Emergency Measures Organization
The Kings County Regional Emergency Management Organization (Kings REMO) is responsible for providing a prompt and coordinated response to emergencies that occur within its jurisdiction.
The information on this website is provided to assist residents in understanding, planning for, and responding to a variety of risks and hazards in their homes, their community and in the province.
While weather events are the most commonly considered hazards in the Kings County area, man made technical hazards are also possible, and should be considered in plans for individual, family, and public safety.
