Ty Walsh

Ty Walsh is a proud active community member of Berwick, Nova Scotia. Having lived in the Annapolis Valley area most of his life, Ty was born in, Berwick grew up in and around Berwick, and after time away for schooling in Halifax, now resides in Berwick again with his wife, Katrina, son, John, and beagle, Miles.

Ty Walsh has held a seat on Berwick Town Council since October 2016, where he was elected Deputy Mayor in the Fall of 2019, reelected to council and a second year as Deputy Mayor in fall of 2020. Reelected for 3rd four year term as a town councillor at large in fall of 2024.

Since being first elected, Councillor Walsh has sat on the Kings Transit Authority Board, Berwick & District Volunteer Fire Services, Annapolis Valley Regional Library Board (alternate), Kings Diversity Council, Valley Community Fibre Network (alternate), Community Development Committee, Planning Advisory Committee, Police Services Board. Ty also volunteers with many organizations such as Berwick & District Gala Days Association, Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities, Berwick & District Lions Club, Berwick & District School Advisory Committee, 2nd Berwick Beavers, and the Nova Scotia School Secondary Students’ Association. 

 
Ty has worked in the realm of community development with Nova Scotia Department of Education, Nova Scotia Youth Secretariat, Heartwood Community Youth Development, Halifax Regional Municipal Recreation, and Nova Scotia Community College. He also founded the Leaders of Today - Nova Scotia Youth Services Network , attended the 16th Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers in Cape Town South Africa as Canada’s youth representative.

Ty worked in Client Program Development at Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre in Waterville, NS for 9 years with individuals with mental and physical disabilities. Additionally, Ty sat on the board of AWARE NS- Health & Community Services Occupational Health & Safety Association, and worked with and fund raised for the board of the Apple Tree Foundation, supporting KRRC.,Ty then worked for Canada Post mainly in Middleton, NS for 5 years in customer service, but also training retail associates, lead hands, and occupational health & safety maintenance and training. Presently, Ty has been working for BrokerLink Insurance since January 2023 as a Service Advisor Broker for Personal Lines Home & Auto coverages in Kentville, NS.

Ty’s educational background includes Saint Mary’s University - General Arts Program, Nova Scotia Community College - Business Administration Program, and has attended numerous Learning Seminars and earned Training Certificates in many social related fields. Ty is currently studying for his Canadian Association of Insurance Brokers (CAIB) Designation through Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia (IBANS) and Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC).

Ty enjoys networking, thrift shopping, testing out new technology, and gadgets, camping with family and friends and is a huge Batman fan.
