Councillor Derrick Jamieson
Councillor Derrick Jamieson was first elected to serve on the Berwick Town Council in the fall of 2020 and is pleased to have been re-elected in 2024.
Councillor Jamieson grew up on a farm in Falmouth, Nova Scotia and has been involved in agriculture across Canada. Over his career, he has returned numerous times to live in Berwick before finally retiring in Berwick with his wife Lynn. Derrick and Lynn have three adult children, Erin, Adam and Robyn and six grandchildren.
Councillor Jamieson has a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (now Dalhousie) and MacDonald College of McGill University. Early in his career he was employed with Farm Credit Canada before returning to Berwick to work with MW Graves and Company. Derrick has also worked at the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board, serving for ten years as their CEO. After over 34 years of employment with the Province of Nova Scotia he retired from his position as Investment Director with the Department of Rural and Economic Development and Tourism.
Councillor Jamieson is a retired professional agrologist, having received the Distinguished Lifetime Agrologist Award from the Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists. He has also served as the Chair of the Agricultural Institute of Canada Foundation as well as many other agricultural organizations. Over the years he has participated and volunteered in an executive capacity for organizations, such as Parent Teachers Associations, School Advisory Councils as well as the Berwick and District Refugee Settlement Group assisting refugees coming to Canada.
Councillor Jamieson believes that Berwick has an excellent future and looks forward to helping build a stronger future for the Town of Berwick.
