Committees

The Town of Berwick is seeking enthusiastic citizens willing to volunteer their time to serve on a Committee of Council. When you volunteer on a Committee, you learn more about your community, have a voice on issues that matter, and make a difference in your Town.

The following committees have vacancies and are actively recruiting new members!

Accessibility Advisory Committee:
The role of the Accessibility Advisory Committee is to advise the municipal council on identifying, preventing, and eliminating accessibility barriers to municipal programs, services, and infrastructure. The Town of Berwick Accessibility Advisory Committee is made up of council, staff and citizen representatives. At least half of the members must be people with disabilities, or represent organizations that represent people with disabilities.

The Accessibility Advisory Committee meets bi-monthly, currently on Monday evenings.

Audit Committee:
The Audit Committee carries out a detailed review of the financial statements with the auditor, as well as provides advice to Council on matters relating to audit and finance of the municipality. Membership on the committee is duly appointed by Council annually pursuant to Section 44(1) of the Municipal Government Act. We welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds and encourage interested persons to self-identify. The Town of Berwick Accessibility Advisory Committee is made up of council, staff and citizen representatives. A strong financial background and ability to comprehend complex financial and regulatory processes is required for this committee.

The Audit Committee meets quarterly, as required.

Planning Advisory Committee:
The Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) reviews and provides recommendations to Council concerning all land-use planning matters. Membership on the committee is appointed by Council by resolution. We welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds and encourage interested persons to self-identify. The Town of Berwick Planning Advisory Committee is made up of council, staff and citizen representatives. Applicants must have a willingness to learn and an interest in land-use in Berwick.

The Planning Advisory Commitee meets monthly, currently on Tuesday evenings.
