Berwick Electric Files 2026 Rate Update Application
- Details
- Published: Monday, 20 July 2026 09:33
Berwick Electric Commission has submitted an application to the Nova Scotia Energy Board (NSEB) to flow through recent increases in the cost of purchased power from Nova Scotia Power and the Ellershouse Wind Farm. If approved, the adjustment would apply a 3.155% increase to all customer classes. The change is expected to take place in August.
Berwick Electric purchases approximately 86% of its electricity from external suppliers and does not profit from this adjustment — it recovers only the actual cost of the power purchased to serve the community. All rate changes must be reviewed and approved by the NSEB.
Approved rates, along with a full FAQ on why costs are rising, what "flow through" means, and how the new rates compare to current ones, are available.
