Berwick, Nova Scotia – The Town of Berwick announces that a special municipal
election will be held to fill a vacancy on Town Council following the resignation of
Councillor Justin Serino.


In accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, Council has initiated the process to
hold a special election to fill the vacant Councillor position for the remainder of the
current Council term.


Mayor Mike Trinacty acknowledged Councillor Serino’s contributions to the
municipality and expressed appreciation for his time in office.


“On behalf of Council, I would like to thank Councillor Serino for his commitment
and leadership during his time on Council. His service as Chair of the Police
Advisory Board demonstrated a strong dedication to community safety and effective
oversight of policing services in Berwick. We wish him all the best.”


Regular polling day for the special election has been set for Saturday, June 20,
2026, with nomination day taking place on Tuesday, May 25, 2026. Voting will be
done by electronic means (internet and telephone), beginning Saturday, June 13,
2026.

for updates and information about the upcoming special election.

Summer Concert Series 2026

The Town of Berwick is seeking musical entertainment to perform during our weekly Concert Series this summer (July-September 2026).
Performers must be able to provide a 55-minute set, have experience playing for a public audience (100+ people), and be available to perform on Thursday evenings. Bands must supply their own instruments and sound equipment.
Selected applicants will be paid $300 (total) for groups of 2 or fewer members, and $500 (total) for groups of 3 or more members.
Concerts will take place on Thursday evenings, with times between 6:00 and 8:00 PM. In the event of inclement weather, concerts may be rescheduled to the following Sunday afternoon.
Please send a short biography highlighting past performances, the name of your band, the types of music played, contact information, and the number of band members to with the subject line “Concert Series Performer” Also, include any Thursday dates that you are unavailable between July 1 and September 30, 2026.
Deadline to apply: Friday, April 24, 2026, by 2:30 PM.

This contract includes various paving and repair work and will extend through March 31, 2027.

Residents can safely dispose of their used batteries in the lobby, including:
• AA, AAA, C & D batteries
• Button batteries
• 9-volt batteries
• Large rechargeable batteries
 
This initiative is powered by Call2Recycle, helping keep harmful materials out of our environment and making recycling easier for everyone.

Easter Events 2026

There are a number of fantastic community events taking place over the Easter weekend.
The Town has made the decision to pause the Bunny Hop this year to ensure our support is focused on the many local organizations already planning and delivering events. Berwick is fortunate to have such dedicated volunteers, and we want to ensure their events remain the focus of the weekend.
The Town of Berwick is proud to support the Venturers’ Kids Dance, the Berwick Lions Community Breakfast, and the Berwick Legion Community Easter Egg Hunt.

Job terms: Most positions are 9 weeks, while some are 12 weeks.
All positions are subject to budget and grant approval.
