PLANNED POWER OUTAGE

Dear Residents of Berwick,

Please be advised that there will be a planned power outage in our area on Sunday, June 22, 2025. The outage, is scheduled to begin at 9:00 PM, and may last anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. This interruption is necessary to allow for essential maintenance work to be completed safely and efficiently.

Affected Streets:

Only the following Streets will be affected by the outage;

  • Mill
  • Foster
  • Union
  • Cottage
  • Main
  • Commercial
  • Bezanson
  • Maple

Important: If you or someone in your household relies on oxygen, medical devices, or other essential support systems—and your street is not listed above—we still recommend preparing for a possible unexpected outage.

Recommended Preparations:

  • Charge all necessary devices and power banks ahead of time.
  • Ensure essential equipment has backup power, if applicable.
  • Use surge protectors to safeguard appliances and electronics.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to enhance the infrastructure that powers our community.

MPS & LUB Plan Review Public Hearing

The Town of Berwick is moving forward with the updated Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and Land Use Bylaw (LUB) plan review. Over the past two years, we’ve hosted several public engagement sessions to gather feedback, especially on key topics like residential zoning.

The proposed documents are now ready for final public consultation before being considered for approval.  We invite all residents to attend the upcoming Public Hearing, where you’ll have an opportunity to share your thoughts and concerns directly with Town Council.

Your voice matters - this is a crucial step in shaping the future of our community. If you're unable to attend in person, but would like to make a written submission, please email or drop off your submission at Town Hall before 4:00 pm on the day of the Public Hearing.

If you prefer to attend virtually, please email before 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7th, to request a Zoom link.  Please note: virtual participants who wish to address Council must use a camera-enabled device.

TAKE NOTICE that at the regular meeting of Municipal Council on June 10, 2025, Council passed final reading to approve the Deed Transfer Tax Bylaw – Chapter 121.

The bylaw repeals the Deed Transfer Tax bylaw enacted July 29, 1998. This bylaw becomes effective as of the date of this advertisement.

Hours: 35 hours/week, Monday–Friday
Term: 9–10 weeks

The Town of Berwick, on behalf of the Apple Capital Museum Society, is hiring a Museum Manager to lead summer operations at the Apple Capital Museum and Visitor Information Centre. This is a great opportunity for a college or university student with a passion for history, tourism, and community engagement.

About the Role:
The Museum Manager will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations, assisting with historical displays, engaging with the public, and helping to plan fundraising and community initiatives. This is a hands-on role that combines leadership, creativity, and a love of local heritage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the museum and support the Visitor Information Centre

  • Greet and assist visitors, sharing historical and tourism information

  • Curate exhibits and update historical displays

  • Support fundraising and promotional activities

  • Help coordinate volunteers and maintain regular communication with the Museum Society

  • Ensure the space is welcoming, accessible, and organized

What We’re Looking For:

  • Self-motivated, organized, and reliable

  • Strong communication and computer skills

  • Interest in local history and community development

  • Familiarity with Berwick and surrounding area is an asset

  • Experience or education in a related field (history, tourism, or community engagement) preferred

Sign Up for E-Billing Before the Canada Post Strike

Canada Post has announced a potential strike beginning Friday, May 23rd. To prevent disruptions to your utility billing, Berwick Electric is encouraging all utility customers to sign up for e-billing immediately.

E-billing ensures you receive your utility bill without delay, regardless of mail service interruptions.

Customers who do not enroll in e-billing will be required to pick up their bills in person from Town Hall should a postal strike occur. Failure to do so does not exempt you from payment deadlines.

⚠️ Please note: Interest penalties will apply to any overdue balances not paid by the due date shown on the utility bill.
