Splash Pad OPEN for the Season!

After a "soft-launch" last week, we are pleased to share with residents that our Splash Pad is officially open for the season!
The Splash Pad turns on daily at 10 AM, and can be activated by pressing the sensor button in the middle of the splash pad area. The public washrooms are also open for the season!
Our Splash Pad can be found within Rainforth Park, located at 205 Cottage Street.
There is parking available adjacent to the tennis courts, as well as a larger parking lot near the basketball courts.
A reminder that our parks and greenspaces are smoke-free areas, and please no pets, food or drinks on the splash pad.

2024-25 Budget Approved

The Town of Berwick approved the 2024-25 operating and capital budgets at a special Town Council meeting on April 15, 2024.
The balanced budget was approved with a two cent decrease to the residential and commercial tax rates. Council sought community feedback through public information sessions and budget survey. The Town of Berwick’s Council is committed to being fiscally responsible with your tax dollars, while also balancing the needs of the community and maintaining the municipal service levels the Town of Berwick is known for.
- The new residential tax rate will be $1.558 per $100 of assessment value
- The commercial tax rate will be $3.870 per $100 of assessment value
The highlights of the Town of Berwick’s 2024-25 budget include:
- Year 1 of significant upgrades to the Wastewater Treatment Plant
- A new building, with washrooms, at Centennial Park
- A new Office Administrative Coordinator position
- Collaborative projects with the Berwick Volunteer Fire Department, including a new water storage tank and completion of a Portable Pumper Truck
As discussed by Council and Town Staff during the budgetary process, the many factors that impacted the 2024 budget include the following:
- Increased property assessment values from PVSC
- Community feedback
- Rising costs, and the impacts of inflation at all service levels

Accessibility Advisory Committee:
The role of the Accessibility Advisory Committee is to advise the municipal council on identifying, preventing, and eliminating accessibility barriers to municipal programs, services, and infrastructure. The Town of Berwick Accessibility Advisory Committee is made up of council, staff, and citizen representatives. At least half of the members must be people with disabilities, or represent organizations that represent people with disabilities.
The Accessibility Advisory Committee meets bi-monthly, currently on Monday evenings.

Berwick Electric Commission
The Berwick Electric Commission provides governance to the Utility to ensure that the electric utility provides reliable, safe, and affordable service to its customers, remains financially viable, and adapts to emerging challenges like sustainability and technological advancements.
The Berwick Electric Commission meets bi-monthly (daytime).

Police Services Advisory Committee:
Police Services Advisory Committee provides advice to Town Council in relation to the enforcement of law, the maintenance of law and order, and the prevention of crime in the municipality. The Town of Berwick Police Services Advisory Committee is made up of council, staff and citizen representatives. Applicants must have a willingness to learn and an interest in the Police Services in Berwick.
The Police Services Advisory Committee meets bi-monthly (evenings).

The Town of Berwick Public Works Department wishes to advise the public that repair work is taking place on East Main Street today. Main Street will be closed, except to local traffic, between Maple Avenue and Cottage Street. Detours are in place.
